The Vagus Nerve: The Spiritual Key to Healing and Wholeness.
Your vagus nerve is the bee's knees to all things. In fact, I truly believe it is the essence of who we are. For too long, we've been brainwashed since school to believe that the body is merely a vessel for the brain – a false illusion that has led us to ignore the profound wisdom and interconnectedness of our entire being.
But the truth is, the body is not separate from the brain; it is an extension of it. And at the heart of this mind-body connection lies the vagus nerve, the only cranial nerve that directly links the brain to the body (and vice versa).
If you were to cut the cranium open, went past the Dura and poked your brain you would not feel anything at all - this is because the brain doesn’t have any tactile sensation nerves. You wouldn't feel anything. This is where the body comes in - the body is there to feel or collect and filter in and out energy through various sub systems. This is then recorded by the sensory neurons of the vagus nerve. The is truly an extension of the brain it is the feeling sensation of the brain. So, believe me when I tell you, YOU ARE NOT ONLY YOUR BRAIN. Healing and enlightenment occur when the vagus nerve becomes whole.
The vagus nerve and subconsciousness.
I strongly believe that THE VAGUS NERVE - has its own consciousness and is one of it the gate ways to enlightenment. This powerful and extensive nerve is a vine of nerve fibers with roots in nearly every organ and shoots in the brain.
It controls the majority of all the autonomic responses in the body i.e regulation of the heart rate, blood pressure, respiration, gut function, and touches on all the organs in the body. The vagus nerve also and innovates and quite a few muscle movements in the mouth, including speech, hearing. and aids the control of our appetite and is connected to all 7 main chakras running along the midline of the system (System – body and brain)
It has been sited in many articles that the way you react to the world and to the people around you is driven by subconscious aspects of your brain and body. Who is the connector? You got it the Vagus nerve. The vagus nerve responds to the world around it and produces an outcome, emotional, spiritual, or physical. One could say that maybe just maybe the vagus nerve is the ego speaking out that needs to be healed, alongside the illusion that an untamed mind creates.
As with anything we want to heal it is advisable to Start small and build consistency and not overdo it.
Over stimulating the vagus nerve can lead to can have the counter effect:
1. Slow heart rate: The vagus nerve helps regulate heart rate. Overstimulating it can cause the heart rate to drop too low, leading to symptoms like dizziness, fatigue, and fainting.
2. Hypotension (low blood pressure): The vagus nerve can also influence blood vessel dilation and blood pressure. Excessive vagal stimulation can cause blood pressure to drop too low, resulting in light-headedness and potential fainting.
3. Nausea and vomiting: The vagus nerve connects the brain to the digestive system. Strong vagal stimulation can trigger the vomiting reflex, leading to nausea and vomiting.
4. Gastrointestinal issues: Beyond just nausea, overstimulating the vagus nerve can disrupt normal gastrointestinal function, causing problems like bloating, constipation, or diarrhoea.
5. Respiratory issues: The vagus nerve also connects to the lungs. Excessive stimulation may lead to irregular breathing patterns or even breathing difficulties.
