Simple Ceremonial Cacao Elixirs to Try & Make

If you’re looking for something new to integrate into your Ceremonial cacao elixir to either enhance a deeper sense of love, your spiritual practice or just to enhance the nutritional quality of your elixir, then you have landed in the right place.

Below are some ingredients and other plant medicines that you can add to your standard Ceremonial Cacao Elixir that I often integrating to my Base Ceremonial Cacao elixir.

My Basic Elixir

Approximately 15-30g Ceremonial Grade Cacao*

Pinch of sea salt

200-250ml of filtered water or plant base milk2 (personally I like using bottled water)

Heat water but do not boil. I test it by putting my finger in it – when it is too hot to touch, I remove it from the heat. If you want to be more precise then you can use a cooking thermometer.

Once heated to your desired temperature take it off the heat and let it sit for a few seconds.

Add sea salt and ceremonial cacao and blend with either a whisk or hand blender or transfer to a blender. This gives it a nice, beautiful froth.

Before blending you can add honey, maple syrup or even some mushed updates.**

While preparing be mindful of your intention as to why are preparing your cacao. Try stay in your heart and present with the process. Light a candle, sing, dance or chant your intention while you prepare you elixir. Turn the music up and become that rebel teen again.

Be creative and most of all Make it fun and joyful.

There are many different herbs and spices which you can use to infuse into your basic elixir to enhances it nutritional quality and your intention.

For all dried herbs – seep into your hot water for 3-5 minutes before adding your cacao

For spices and powders try adding ½ - 1 tsp or according to your taste buds.

* Use your intuition as to the amount to take that day and your intention. i.e if you want to do a full-on journey or it is the new or full moon, or you are going to be doing some somatic movement then you may like to drink 40 – 50g. If you want to just enhance your creativity and meditation, then you might only want to take 28g. But do not take a large dose daily as it can be a bit too much for the kidney

** Do not add granulated sugar as this the most unhealthy, damaging form of sugar available and addictive.  It is recommended not to use dairy milk, as this may blocks the effects of cacao and nutritional qualities

*** Do not take mugwort if you are pregnant or trying to conceive.

Disclaimer: This is the way I prepare Ceremonial Cacao. I make no claims to the true nature of the herbs and spices. My method and knowledge has come through conversations with other practitioners, information I’ve gathered online and a what I have experimented and noticed within myself.
